NEWS
Legend Cars Australia's website has had a facelift — and there's more on the way.
The site now features a cleaner, more intuitive layout designed to make it easier to find what you're after, whether that's race info, event details, or the latest happenings in the category. Everything is laid out with the fan and competitor experience front of mind, cutting the clutter and putting the important stuff front and centre.
The headline addition is a brand-new News section. For important category news and updates, it's now the go-to spot for everything happening across Legend Cars Australia.
And this is just the start. More features will be rolled out throughout the year as the platform continues to grow — so it's worth checking back regularly to see what's new.
For the 2026 season, three (3) championship titles will be contested across the year:
1. Legend Cars Australia Championship
The Legend Cars Australia Championship will be contested across the six (6) rounds of the Hi-Tec Super Series, determining the overall season champion.
2. Australian Legend Cars Title – Stand-Alone Event
The Australian Title will be decided at a stand-alone, one-off event, held at Round 1 of the Short Track Nationals at Sydney Motorsport Park.
This event will run in a special speedway-style format, including:
- Random draw grid positions
- Multiple heat races
- B-Main and A-Main finals
- Elimination racing and a high-intensity final showdown to crown the Australian Champion
3. Short Track Nationals Championship
A separate points-based championship will be contested across the full Short Track Nationals Series, awarding its own overall champion.

Exciting News for Legend Cars Australia!
We’re proud to announce that Legend Cars Australia has signed a multi-year agreement with the Australian Auto Sport Alliance (AASA) — securing our place as the only rear-wheel-drive, miniature-built race cars competing under this prestigious governing body.
This landmark deal cements our commitment to delivering thrilling, high-quality racing while opening the door for even more opportunities to grow the category and showcase these incredible machines on Australia’s biggest stages.
The future is looking fast, fierce, and full of action — and we can’t wait to hit the track
TFH Hire Services Australia has built a formidable portfolio in Australian Motorsport. TFH Racing competed with distinction in the 2024 Trico Trans AM championship, TFH Hire Services TA2 Series framed by Hytek, Aussie Racing Cars, Formula RX8 and Toyota 86 Series. In addition, TFH Hire Services category and individual sponsorship across Australian motorsport have been massive.
2024 Championship victories in the Trico Trans-Am Series and the inaugural TFH Hire Services Formula RX8 series were eclipsed by TFH Hire Services drivers, Brodie Kostecki and Todd Hazelwood’s victory at the 2024 Repco Bathurst 1000.
In 2025 that level of commitment has grown with the acquisition of Legend Cars Australia.
Synonymous with close racing and camaraderie, the category is a stalwart on the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series calendar, a point new owner Brett Thomas is determined to continue.
“I’m incredibly excited to announce the purchase of Legend Cars Australia and to be part of the future of this amazing category!” Thomas exclaimed.
“Legend Cars have always delivered some of the most exciting and competitive racing in the country, and I’m looking forward to building on that momentum.”
“We have big plans to grow the category, making it more accessible for drivers at all levels while ensuring the racing remains as thrilling as ever. I’m also very happy to be working alongside the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series, which provides an incredible platform for categories like Legend Cars to thrive. Their commitment to motorsport aligns perfectly with our vision, and I’m excited to see what we can achieve together.”
“Legend Cars have been in Australia for over two decades but have never been as strong in terms of numbers as they are now.”
Originally imported and run mainly at speedway circuits around Australia, John Dennehy, introduced Legend Cars to asphalt racing locally in around 2016. Since then, it has grown to be one of Australia’s largest competitor categories under the guidance of both John and Tony Ward. A fact gracefully acknowledged by Brett Thomas.
“I want to extend a huge congratulations and thanks to Tony Ward and John Dennehy for their efforts in building Legend Cars Australia into what it is today,” Thomas said.
“Their dedication to the category has been instrumental in its success. I’m also pleased that Tony Ward will remain involved as a shareholder and as Category Manager for Asphalt during the transition period and beyond, helping to grow the category even further. His experience and passion for the sport will be invaluable as we take Legend Cars Australia to the next level” in both Circuit Racing and Speedway.
Further assistance in progressing the Legend Car category will come from newly appointed General Manager, Darren Allan.
“We both are eager to see the future of the category unfold and to work with the teams, drivers, and fans to make it bigger and better than ever,” say Brett and Darren.
Expectations and category interest has soared with the new 2025 TFH Hire Services Legend Cars Australia series set to debut at Winton for the opening round of the 2025 Hi-Tec Oils Super Series from 28th February to 2nd March 2025.
